Time and Weather Sol is a time, weather, and Solana information dashboard application designed for the Solana Seeker phone (Android) that displays:
Time and Weather Sol is designed with a privacy-first, local-only architecture. All data the App stores — your locations, world clocks, units and display choices, and your wallet details — remains exclusively on your device in app-private storage (Android SharedPreferences and EncryptedSharedPreferences). None of it is transmitted anywhere.
The one thing the App sends to an endpoint of ours is an anonymous, aggregate usage count, described in full in section 5a. It carries an event name and nothing else, and can be switched off in Settings > Privacy > Anonymous analytics.

Time and Weather Sol requests Android location permissions for two distinct purposes:
Time and Weather Sol uses precise GPS coordinates to fetch accurate weather forecasts, hourly and daily predictions, air quality index (AQI) data, and sunrise/sunset times for your current location. This permission:
Legal basis (GDPR): Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — you explicitly grant location permission through the Android permission prompt, and you can revoke this permission at any time through Android Settings.
Time and Weather Sol also uses coarse location data for regulatory compliance — specifically to detect whether the device is located in a jurisdiction subject to international sanctions. This usage:
Geocoder platform service. Geocoder is provided by the operating system and may itself perform a network lookup through your device's own location provider (for example Google Play services) — that lookup is outside our control and is governed by your device vendor's privacy policy. The App discards the coordinates immediately after reading the country code.Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — compliance with international sanctions law. We have conducted a balancing test and determined that the compelling legal obligation to screen for sanctioned regions outweighs the minimal privacy intrusion of a single on-device coarse location check that is never stored or transmitted.
Time and Weather Sol does not operate any backend server, database or cloud storage that holds your data. The single endpoint we do run, described in section 5a, stores nothing but anonymous per-country, per-day counts of event names, and has no way to receive, store or process anything about you. All of your data exists exclusively in your device's app-private storage and is inaccessible to other applications.
Time and Weather Sol makes read-only API requests to the following third-party services to retrieve publicly available data. These requests are HTTPS-encrypted and no user-specific data is included in the requests except where noted:

Those are the third-party hosts. The only other host the App contacts at all is our own analytics endpoint, timeandweathersol-analytics.vercel.app, described in section 5a. There is no crash-reporting host and no advertising host.
* Your GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to weather API endpoints to retrieve location-specific weather data. This occurs only when you have granted location permission. Coordinates are numerical values that identify a geographic point but do not directly identify you as an individual. The legal basis for this processing is your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
** Your Solana wallet public address is sent to the Solana RPC endpoint only when you have opted in by signing in with your wallet. Wallet public addresses are publicly visible on the Solana blockchain and are not generally considered personal information, though GDPR may classify pseudonymous identifiers as personal data. The legal basis for this processing is your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Time and Weather Sol sends anonymous, aggregate usage counts to a single endpoint we operate, timeandweathersol-analytics.vercel.app. We use them to see which features are actually used and roughly where the App is used, so we know what to improve.
What is sent. The entire request body is one event name, for example
{"event_type":"app_open"}. That is the whole payload. It contains no coordinates, no city or
time-zone name, no temperature or forecast, no wallet address, no balance, no device or advertising
identifier, no install id, no session id and no user id.
What is derived. Our host records the request's approximate country (derived by the hosting provider from the connection) and the date, and keeps a running count per event name, per country, per day. IP addresses are not stored. Because the request carries no identifier, the counts cannot be tied to you, to your device, or to each other — two events from one phone are indistinguishable from two events from two phones.
How to switch it off. Settings > Privacy > Anonymous analytics. While it is off, the App sends nothing to this endpoint at all. No feature of the App depends on it.
Legal basis (GDPR). Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding aggregate product usage. The data is anonymous rather than pseudonymous — it carries no identifier that could single you out, so it is not personal data within the meaning of Art. 4(1). The off switch is provided regardless.
Retention. Aggregate counts are kept indefinitely, since they describe events rather than people. No raw request log is retained.
If — and only if — you choose to buy the optional Pro unlock, the following applies. If you never open the paywall, none of it happens.
The App keeps the most recent weather reading it successfully fetched in app-private storage, so that opening the App with no signal shows the last known conditions and their age rather than an error. This snapshot never leaves your device, and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
Wallet sign-in uses Solana's Mobile Wallet Adapter protocol, which operates entirely locally between Time and Weather Sol and your wallet app on the same device via Android inter-process communication. During the MWA sign-in process:

Since none of your data is stored on our side, deletion from your device constitutes complete deletion. The anonymous counts in section 5a contain no identifier of any kind, so there is nothing in them that could be traced back to you, retrieved or erased on request; the off switch in Settings stops any further counts.
Time and Weather Sol transfers no personal data to us. The anonymous event counts in section 5a are handled by our hosting provider (Vercel) and may be processed in the United States; they contain no personal data to transfer. When Time and Weather Sol makes API calls to third-party services (see Section 5), those requests may likewise be routed through servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States and Europe.
For users in the EEA or UK: these API calls are limited to fetching publicly available weather and price data, and where you have consented, querying your location for weather forecasts and your wallet's public balance. We rely on the derogation under Article 49(1)(a) GDPR (explicit consent for location-based weather queries and wallet balance queries) and Article 49(1)(c) (necessary for the performance of the contract for weather and price data retrieval).

Time and Weather Sol is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by children under the age of 16 (or 13 in jurisdictions where that threshold applies, including the United States under COPPA). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided data to the app, the data exists only on that child's device and can be removed by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
Time and Weather Sol performs one automated decision: sanctions region screening at app startup. If your device is detected in a sanctioned jurisdiction, the app displays an informational screen explaining the restriction. This automated decision is based on legitimate interest in regulatory compliance (GDPR Art. 22(2)(b)) and does not produce legal effects beyond restricting access to the app's informational features. You may contact us to contest this decision.
We have conducted an internal assessment of our data processing activities and determined that a formal Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) under GDPR Art. 35 is not required because:
Time and Weather Sol builds no profile of any user and performs no cross-site or cross-app tracking, so a Do Not Track signal has nothing to switch off. The one thing you can switch off is our anonymous analytics, in Settings > Privacy > Anonymous analytics.
For the purposes of the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and its national implementations: Time and Weather Sol stores configuration data on your device using Android SharedPreferences and EncryptedSharedPreferences. This storage is strictly necessary for the functioning of the application (exempted from consent requirements under Art. 5(3)) and does not involve any tracking, profiling, or advertising functionality.
