The original religious texts from which translations are derived (the Bible, the Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, the Dhammapada, the Torah, the Guru Granth Sahib, the Tao Te Ching, etc.) are ancient works that predate modern copyright law and are universally recognised as being in the public domain.
