Privacy Policy

Summary: SolHerd has no accounts and holds nothing about you on any server. Your herd records stay on your device. The App fetches public market data from government APIs; sends anonymous, aggregate usage counts to one endpoint of ours — an event name and nothing else, switchable off in Settings; and — only if you connect a wallet — sends your wallet's public address to a public Solana RPC endpoint. It charges nothing unless you choose to buy an optional tier.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how SolHerd ("the App"), developed and published by ADappvark ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use our cattle breeding intelligence application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

SolHerd is distributed exclusively via the Solana Seeker dApp Store.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

SolHerd never transmits any of the following to us or to any third party. The single endpoint we do run, described in section 5a, receives one event name per request and could not accept any of it:

Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
GPS coordinates or precise location
Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprints
Behavioural tracking data, profiles or session histories (the anonymous per-day event counts in section 5a identify no user and no session)
Your contacts
Payment information — we never see a card, a bank account or your wallet's private key. If you buy a tier, the only record is the public on-chain transfer described under Purchases.
Health, biometric, or sensitive personal data
Cookies or web tracking technologies

Two things need stating precisely rather than as a blanket "we collect nothing":

Animal photos. If you attach a photo to an animal, the App copies that image from your gallery into its own private storage on your device. It is never uploaded.
Country code. The App reads a country code from your SIM, mobile network and device locale, on-device only, for sanctions screening and to choose metric or imperial units. See Section 12.

3. On-Device Data Storage

All data you enter into SolHerd (including herd records, breeding pairs, notes, and preferences) is stored exclusively on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data:

Is never uploaded to us — there is no SolHerd account or server
Is not transmitted to any cloud service or third party
Is not backed up to any external service. Android Backup is disabled for SolHerd (allowBackup="false"), so nothing is copied into a Google backup and nothing survives uninstalling
Is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear the App's data

Alongside your herd records, the App also stores locally: animal photos you attach; your wallet's public address and label if you connect one; your consent record (the message you accepted, its SHA-256 hash, and the Ed25519 signature and wallet address if you signed with a wallet); the hash and signature of any herd attestation you sign; and your unit and reminder preferences. Settings lets you export or erase your consent record and clear all herd data.

4. Sign In With Solana (SIWS)

SolHerd uses the Solana Mobile Wallet Adapter (MWA) protocol for Sign In With Solana (SIWS). This authentication method:

Is entirely optional — the whole App works if you choose "Continue without wallet"
Submits no blockchain transaction for sign-in or attestation, moves no funds or tokens, and pays no network fee. The only transaction SolHerd ever asks your wallet to sign is the one you start yourself when buying an optional Herdsman or Rancher tier on the Pro tab — see Purchases below.
Does ask your wallet to sign messages: your Terms/Privacy/EULA consent statement, and any herd attestation you request. Signing a message is not a transaction
Reads your wallet's token accounts through a public Solana RPC endpoint in order to determine whether you hold a Seeker Genesis Token. Your wallet's public address is sent in that request. Your balances are neither stored nor displayed
Stores your wallet's public address on your device, together with the signed consent message, its hash and the signature, as your record of consent. You can export or erase this from Settings
Never sees or requests your private keys or seed phrase, which never leave your wallet app
Does not request or receive permission to move, transfer, or modify any assets

4A. Purchases

If you buy a Herdsman or Rancher tier, SolHerd asks your wallet to sign a single transfer of SOL or SKR from your wallet to our treasury address DD4aPDhf396NhNDxa4PBVf1u3uzCUP2QYm2dFMmJWq2Q. The transaction carries a per-app reference account and a short memo (SHD) so we can tell it was for SolHerd. Like every Solana transaction, it is public and permanent: anyone can see that your wallet address paid our treasury this amount at this time. We do not collect anything beyond what the blockchain already records, we never hold your keys or funds, and no account is created. To restore a purchase on another device, the app reads your wallet's own transaction history from a public RPC endpoint; that request carries your wallet address and nothing else.

5. Network Requests and Endpoints

SolHerd is not an offline-only app. It contacts exactly these hosts, directly from your device:

mpr.datamart.ams.usda.gov — USDA Livestock Mandatory Reporting Datamart (United States cattle market reports)
apisidra.ibge.gov.br — IBGE SIDRA (Brazilian cattle slaughter statistics)
api.worldbank.org — World Bank Open Data (the livestock production index in the global overview)
api.mainnet-beta.solana.com — a public Solana RPC endpoint, contacted only when you connect a wallet, to check Seeker Genesis Token status. That request carries your wallet's public address
solherd-analytics.aardappvark.workers.dev — an endpoint we operate, for anonymous aggregate usage counts. See section 5a

All requests go directly from your device to those public APIs
None pass through any ADappvark proxy. The one endpoint we operate is the analytics endpoint above, and it receives only an event name
The market and World Bank requests carry nothing identifying you or your device
Every host you contact, including the Solana RPC provider, necessarily receives your IP address

Live price reports cover the United States and Brazil only. Other regions display World Bank production indices plus a link to the publisher's own website; the European Union view uses Germany's series as a labelled proxy, because the World Bank publishes no usable EU-wide value for this index. Please refer to the privacy policies of these data providers for how they handle API requests.

5a. Anonymous Analytics

SolHerd sends anonymous, aggregate usage counts to a single endpoint we operate, solherd-analytics.aardappvark.workers.dev, so we can see which features are actually used and roughly where the App is used.

What is sent. The entire request body is one event name, for example {"event_type":"animal_added"}. That is the whole payload. It contains no animal record, tag, breed, weight, photo, EPD figure, pairing score, valuation, wallet address, device or advertising identifier, install id, session id or location.

What is derived. Our host records the request's approximate country (derived by the hosting provider from the connection) and the date, and keeps a running count per event name, per country, per day. IP addresses are not stored. Because the request carries no identifier, the counts cannot be tied to you, to your device, or to each other.

How to switch it off. Settings > Anonymous analytics. While it is off, the App sends nothing to this endpoint at all. No feature depends on it.

Legal basis (GDPR). Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding aggregate product usage. The data is anonymous rather than pseudonymous — it carries no identifier that could single you out, so it is not personal data within the meaning of Art. 4(1). The off switch is provided regardless.

Retention. Aggregate counts are kept indefinitely, since they describe events rather than people. No raw request log is retained.

6. Breed Data

Breed data and Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) information displayed within SolHerd is sourced from publicly published breed-average EPD summaries provided by various breed associations. This data is bundled within the App and does not require network requests to access.

7. Third-Party Services

SolHerd integrates no third-party analytics SDK, advertising network, crash reporter or tracking service. The anonymous counts in section 5a go to an endpoint we run ourselves, not to a third party, and use no SDK. We do not use:

Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or similar analytics platforms
Any analytics product that receives an identifier, a profile or a session
Advertising networks or ad SDKs
Crash reporting services (such as Crashlytics or Sentry)
Social media SDKs or login services (other than SIWS)
Push notification services

8. Children's Privacy

SolHerd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the App collects no personal information from any user, no special provisions for children's data are necessary.

9. Data Security

Since SolHerd does not collect or transmit any personal data, the primary security consideration is the on-device storage of your herd data. This data is stored within the App's private storage area on your Android device, which is protected by the Android operating system's application sandboxing. We recommend that you secure your device with a screen lock to protect locally stored data.

10. Your Rights

Because SolHerd sends no personal information to us, we hold nothing for you to access, correct or delete. You control everything the App stores, on your device:

Access / portability: Settings → Backup & Restore exports your full herd as JSON or CSV. Settings → Your Consent Record exports your consent record, including its signature, as JSON.
Erasure: Settings → Herd Data → Clear All Herd Data deletes every animal record and its photos. Settings → Your Consent Record → Erase Consent Record deletes your acceptance record. Uninstalling removes everything.
Withdrawing consent: erasing the consent record means the App asks you to accept the terms again on next launch.

11. International Users

SolHerd is not available in 17 sanctioned or restricted jurisdictions. Please refer to our Sanctions & Restricted Regions page for the complete list. Since we collect no personal data there are no cross-border transfer concerns arising from us; requests you make to the public APIs in Section 5 go directly to those providers.

12. On-Device Region Screening

To comply with sanctions and export-control law, and to select metric or imperial units, SolHerd reads a country code from your SIM card, your mobile network and your device locale. This is a country-level signal only — not GPS, not an address, not a precise location.

The check runs entirely on your device. The country code is never transmitted, never stored and never shared. If it cannot be determined, the App allows access. The blocked jurisdictions are listed in the Sanctions & Restricted Regions policy.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of SolHerd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

European Union and EEA Users — GDPR

This section applies if you are in the European Union or the European Economic Area, and explains how Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) applies to SolHerd.

Controller

MidMightBit Games, a sole trader established in Australia, is the data controller. Contact: aardappvark@proton.me. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer; we are not required to.

Representative in the Union (Article 27)

We have not designated a representative in the Union. We rely on the exemption in Article 27(2)(a): our processing of EU personal data is occasional, does not include large-scale processing of special categories of data under Article 9 or data relating to criminal convictions under Article 10, and is unlikely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. You can contact us directly at aardappvark@proton.me about any GDPR matter, and we answer in English.

What we process, and on what legal basis

You can stop this processing at any time from the App's Settings screen, where the privacy section carries the control. Turning it off stops all event sending immediately.

Storage on and access to your device (ePrivacy, Article 5(3))

SolHerd stores settings on your device using Android's app-private storage. That storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for, so it does not require separate consent. The App sets no cookies, uses no advertising identifier, no device fingerprinting and no third-party analytics SDK, and does not read information stored on your device for any purpose other than running the App.

Transfers outside the EEA

We are established in Australia, so where we receive anything it is processed in Australia. Australia is not the subject of an adequacy decision under Article 45. Our analytics endpoint is operated for us in the United States by our hosting provider. The transferred payload is a single event name and contains no identifier and no personal data, so in our assessment Chapter V is not engaged by it; to the extent it is, we rely on Article 46(2)(c) standard contractual clauses with our provider, or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where that provider is certified. Public Solana RPC providers you interact with may be located outside the EEA and receive your IP address and wallet public address as an unavoidable part of any internet request.

Retention

Data on your device is kept until you delete it, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. Aggregate daily counters hold no personal data and are kept indefinitely as statistics. We operate no user accounts and hold no profile of you.

Your rights

You have the rights of access (Article 15), rectification (16), erasure (17), restriction (18), data portability (20) and objection (21), and the right to withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis. Because your data lives on your device and we hold no identifier for you, you exercise most of these directly: the data is visible in the App, and clearing the App's data or uninstalling it erases it. For anything else, email aardappvark@proton.me — we respond within one month, free of charge.

There is no automated decision-making producing legal or similarly significant effects, and no profiling within the meaning of Article 22.

Complaints

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your Member State of residence, place of work, or of the alleged infringement (Article 77). A list is published by the European Data Protection Board at edpb.europa.eu. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it first.
